The Brief
Our client, a manufacturer of electric and combustion-powered street sweeping vehicles, was relocating to a larger facility to support the maintenance of their growing fleet of electric vehicles used by local authorities.
The new site needed to be adapted to support their specific operational needs. This included enabling the safe charging and maintenance of large electric vehicles, improving the working environment for engineers and ensuring the building met ongoing compliance requirements.

Our Approach
We began with a detailed assessment of the building’s electrical capacity to determine how best to support the client’s charging requirements. From there, we developed a phased delivery plan to prioritise critical infrastructure ahead of the relocation deadline.
By structuring the work in phases, we were able to complete essential installations quickly while coordinating around other trades on site and the client’s operational needs.

The Solution
Pattco delivered a comprehensive package of electrical upgrades designed to make the building fully fit for purpose.
Specialist charging infrastructure
We installed a new dedicated charging distribution board to support multiple 63-amp and 32-amp charging points for electric sweepers. This included full load assessments, cable calculations and the installation of surge protection to safeguard valuable equipment.
We also installed a commercial workplace EV charging unit with dual 22kW three-phase chargers to support the client’s company vehicles.
Lighting upgrades
To improve visibility and working conditions within the workshop, we replaced existing fittings with high-efficiency high-bay LED lighting. We also upgraded PIR sensors and installed additional emergency lighting to improve safety and compliance.
Workplace improvements
Additional works included the installation of ultra-efficient hand dryers and new socket installations for office displays and meeting rooms, helping to improve day-to-day usability of the building.
Compliance and ongoing support
Following the main installation works, we carried out emergency lighting testing and remedial works to ensure the site met safety requirements. We continue to support the client with ongoing compliance testing across all their sites nationwide, including PAT testing, as well as additional installations as their needs evolve.

A key priority was ensuring the work did not interfere with the client’s relocation or day-to-day operations.
